Mark L. Battle – Founder, President, CEO
It was through Mark’s vision that World Fiber Technologies, LLC. began and grew into the nationally recognized provider of innovative solutions for the fiber optic and wireless telecommunications industries, as well as a DOT Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) contractor specializing in signalization, tolling and smart highways. His 30 years’ experience in leadership, business development, strategic planning, and complex negotiation along with his strong work ethic and dedication are at the core of World Fiber’s solid construction and engineering reputation.
Mark invests in creative, accountable talent who possess strategic specialties in “old” heavy industrial and “new” technology-driven economies. He then integrates talent with like investments in capital equipment and technology. The result is a self-sufficient, nimble and highly leveraged force producing quality construction, on time, at competitive prices.
Thomas B. Crowson, Vice President Telecommunication & Estimating
Tom has over 38 years of experience in finance, real estate, construction, telecommunications and transportation systems. Tom’s experience includes roles as corporate officer, superintendent, project manager, purchaser, estimator, operations manager and sales manager. Tom’s financial, real estate, contracting, management experience and education provide him with experience, professionalism and tools to be successful in the industry. Tom is currently managing projects for World Fiber in several states in the Southeastern United States. In addition, Tom writes technical proposals and provides cost estimates for proposals, quotes and bids to major corporations and agencies in the public and private sector of the telecommunications and transportation industries.
Richard B. Gaudet– Chief Finance Officer
Richard Gaudet’s experience includes extensive involvement in all facets of commercial, asset based, real estate and consumer lending as well as risk management, underwriting, credit analysis, credit risk review, portfolio management, due diligence and business refinancing.
Richard spent over 25 years in banking focused on commercial and real estate loan workout, managing the resolution of over $1 Billion in problem assets utilizing a wide range of strategies including restructure, foreclosure, litigation, bankruptcy, loan sales and business sales.
Since 2004, Richard has acted as a financial advisor. His practice provides broad based financial advisory services to a wide range of clients ranging from borrowers, to banks, and the FDIC. He has overseen the resolution of over $20 Billion in distressed debt as a financial advisor. Additionally, Richard frequently serves as litigation expert in matters related to banking practices, bankruptcy plan feasibility, and cram down interest rates. Having represented both debtors and creditors in complex negotiations, Richard understands the goals of both parties in a negotiation and is able to quickly bring the parties to an amicable and workable agreement.
Douglas C. Terry, P.E. – Chief Operating Officer
With over 30 years of experience in the ITS industry, Doug Terry’s career began in 1984 at JHK & Associates (which later became part of TransCore). From 1994 to 2001, Doug delivered profitable results by combining strong project management and leadership with technical expertise. He was named TransCore’s National Director of ITS in 2001, a role in which he more than doubled the company’s ITS revenue. In 2006, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and in the same year, he relocated to Dubai where he led a $140+ million project that deployed a state-of-the-art toll collection system that included design, software development, construction, integration, public relations, marketing, operations and system maintenance of the customer service and violations processing centers. In 2009, Doug joined the Econolite Group, Inc. as Chief Operating Officer charged with launching a new ITS services company that eventually became Aegis ITS, Inc. During his time with Aegis ITS, Doug led a team of approximately 90 ITS technical and professional staff with over $25 million in annual revenues. Doug is responsible for all operations including project management and fulfillment, business development and asset management at World Fiber. Doug is a registered professional engineer in six states and earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has served as a board member of ITS America and ITS Georgia and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Joe Zimmerman – Executive Vice President
Joe’s expertise began 31 years ago the old fashioned way - hands on, in the trench with boots on the ground, delivering real results for important projects. As a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager, and CQC Manager, Joe has built and maintained fiber optic networks, tolling systems, broadband and Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) deployments with ITS components throughout the United States, including the I-85 HOT Lanes conversion in Atlanta, Georgia. Joe’s expertise spans from the project engineering phase through construction and maintenance of the completed system. Joe’s hard earned experience and unique expertise serves our clients well as he also has upper management skills as the Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Operations, and serves as the CQC on various World Fiber projects. Joe is also a part of the Executive leadership team at World Fiber.
